3 Year Old Open Reserve Champion
"Cast Iron Camelot H."
"Cast Iron Camelot H." is a 3 year old black stallion, with four perfectly matched socks and a star on his forehead. He was born and raised at our ranch in Shafter, California. "Camelot's" sire is Amateur World Champion, "Duke's Cast Iron Willy" and his dam is our 1990 Reserve World Grand Champion mare, "Classy Sassy M.". In the fall of 1996, he was sent to Giannini Stables in Princeton, Kentucky where his training began. With Megan Pettit doing most of the riding and her sister Molly Lewis coaching, these two sisters brought this stallion up to his full potential. He has now become one of the top young performance stallions in the breed. As a 2 year old, he placed 3rd in the 2 Year Old Open Stakes Class at the 1997 First National Breeders Cup. "Camelot" or "Socks", which he has been affectionately nicknamed, was shown over this past year in various other shows, where his success has continued. In the Spring of 1998, he started his first busy season as a breeding stallion, where we hope that his given talent will be passed on down to his future foals.
On August 7th at the Second Annual National Breeders Cup, he was chosen Reserve Champion in the 3 Year Old Open Division. My husband Dennis and myself were so proud of "Camelot", as he put on a flawless performance for everyone. We wish to express our sincere thanks, to both Molly Lewis and Megan Pettit for all their hard work preparing this fine young stallion for the show ring. We would also like to thank all of our friends who have supported "Camelot" since his show career started. As small breeders here in California, our goal has been to raise only a few each year out of some of the very best mares and stallions in this breed.
