NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BREEDERS
MINUTES OF MEETING
December 22, 2010
The meeting was called to order by Larry Kilroy. Those present were Lorraine Bradley, Julie Alford, Gene Donley, Geno Middleton, Steve Wood, Danielle Roberts, Vic Rowden, Jenalee Stevens, and Terry Thomas. Absent were Ted Nichols, Angelia Owens, Steve Kenney, Mitzi Nichols, Paul Phillips and Danny Cantrell.
MINUTES: The minutes of September 6, 2010 were not available.
The minutes from October 13, 2010 were reviewed and with a motion by Steve Wood and second by Julie Alford, they were approved.
TREASURER: A motion was made by Vic Rowden and seconded by Julie Alford to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Property taxes of $63.43 will be paid for the Breeders Cup trailer. Deina Wilson is working on an update to the website, which will also contain more rotating pictures. Steve Wood made the motion and Gene Donley seconded to pay the annual bill for the website of $400. Motion carried.
FALL AWARDS BANQUET: There was a review of the Fall Awards Banquet. There was a consensus that it was a success and the board was complimentary on the food, band, location, cost, date, and awards. The Board was in agreement to plan a similar event in 2011. A suggestion was made to include other shows in our high point award, such as the Mid-America Show, Southern Classic, and other major shows. The show points will be discussed further at the next board meeting. The total cost of the banquet to date is $1,731, with one more donation to be made.
JUDGE SELECTION PROCESS: A list of proposed changes was distributed to the board and a discussion was held. This issue will be brought back for a vote next month.
NON-LIFETIME 3 YEAR OLD PENALTIES: No interest was shown in making a change to the current rules.
MODEL ENTRY DEADLINE CHANGE: A request had been received from Lola Moberly to change the deadline of the yearling model class to be the day of the show, like the weanling model class. The board agreed to change the deadlines for all model classes to be $160 by March 1st, or $200 by 5:30 p.m. the day of the class.
RULE REVIEW: Vic Rowden made the motion and Julie Alford seconded, to add the following to the Guidelines and Policies, “Immediate family members of the NBC Championship Show exhibitors are not eligible to judge. (Family members are defined on page 8 of the current rule book, Exhibitor Status.)” Motion carried.
Also, Julie Alford made a motion and Steve Wood seconded to change the rule book to read that “Two Year Old classes will be timed at the discretion of show management, not to exceed USA regulations.”
STALLIONS OF THE MONTH: Prince Jester and Sensation’s Southern Gentleman
Geno Middleton has received a request from the group who are sponsoring a Select Sale, to be held at Mike Owens’ barn on May 7th. They have asked the Breeders Cup to provide food for lunch at the sale. The Board agreed, providing that all advertising for the sale makes mention of the donation and that our logo is on all advertising. Geno will coordinate.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held at Logan’s Roadhouse on February 7, 2011 at 6:30pm. Future meeting dates will be March 7th and April 18th.
