PRIZE MONEY PAYBACK

Prize money is generated from entry fees and stallion fees, minus 14% to 20% held for administrative costs. Prize money will be mailed to the owner of the horse, unless a release is signed by the owner, designating the prize money to another individual. The Social Security Number is required for prize recipients who receive prizes and/or money valued at over $600, as required by Federal Law, for the National Association of Breeders, Inc., to file 1099 Miscellaneous Income forms to the IRS. It is crucial that horse owners notify the NAB Administrative Assistant when they sell or purchase a horse, so the prize money is sent to the current owner.

Preliminary

30% of the entry fee is paid out for each age group. This 30% is split between the Amateur and Open divisions based on the total number of exhibitors in each division per age group. The top ten (10) are then awarded a percentage according to their placing.

Championship

70% of the entry fee is paid out for each age group. This 70% is split between the Amateur and Open divisions based on the total number of exhibitors in each division per age group. The top ten (10) are then awarded a percentage according to their placing.

Added

Supplemental prize money generated from the stallions who sired the 2 Year Olds of the show is awarded to each Breeders Cup class based on the number of paid up horses in each age group. The percentages are figured the same as for entry fee payback: 30% for the Preliminary classes and 70% for the Championship; split between Amateur & Open; top ten (10) awarded a percentage according to their placing.
