1997 National Breeders Championship, What a Extravaganze
What a Extravaganze
After three years of preparation and a lot of hard work, the first Breeders Cup Championships is part of history of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed. The program was a great success.
Classes were large and very competitive as our breed was on display to a large audience each night. The prize money was the largest in the history for our breed with over $70,000.00 paid out to different classes. This includes the prizes that were donated by our great sponsors. The first place Open Breeders Cup and Amateur Breeders Cup winners received the use of a Featherlite Trailer for one year. These beautiful trailers were presented by : Mr. Al Vaalemoen, Territory Manager for Featherlite Trailers. The reserve winners of both Open and Amateur Breeder Cup received a Missouri Fox Trotter Saddle from P.F.I. Western Store of Springfield, Mo. and was presented by Mr. Larry Burks, manager of the Tack Department for P.F.I.
Board members were elected during the three day event and plans for next year’s program have already started. Enthusiasm was very high and everyone is looking forward to great things next year. Let’s all get behind our new board and give them our support and continue to grow the National Breeders Cup.
Note of Appreciation
A great big thanks to each and everyone that worked so hard to make the Breeders Cup very successful. All the board members spent long hours on this project and several volunteers worked at numerous jobs during the show.

1998 National Breeders Cup Championships
On August 6 – 8, 1999 the second Annual National Breeders Cup will take place at the brand new Lebanon Civic Center in Lebanon, Missouri. The Civic Center has an indoor air-conditioned arena that is very large (160′ x 268′), seats 4,000 and is very modern. There is an outdoor warm-up arena with lights.
The Lebanon area Chamber of Commerce is very excited to have us there and will be very supportive.
Plans are being made for this event and anyone interested in volunteering for a committee or just helping out at the show, please contact any one the officers of NAB or NBC.
