Yearling Voucher Program Established for Stallion Owners

The National Association of Breeders Board of Directors is excited to announce a new program to assist owners of nominated stallions with the yearling nomination process.  The newly established Yearling Voucher Program allows stallion owners to purchase vouchers for the nomination of undeclared yearlings sired by the owner’s stallion.

The way the program works is simple.

First, a stallion owner should nominate their stallion to the National Association of Breeders.  Nominations are currently open for the 2024 breeding season resulting in offspring in 2025.  These NBC eligible offspring would be nominated as lifetime yearlings in 2026.

With this new program, owners of nominated stallions will be able to purchase vouchers for yearling nominations with the nominated yearling to be declared later. A stallion owner must purchase a minimum of three vouchers; however, there is no maximum limit on vouchers.

The cost of the voucher is the same as the yearling nomination ($100 by March 1 of the offspring’s yearling year or $200 by October 1 of the offspring’s yearling year).  Stallion owners may use the vouchers themselves, sell their vouchers or give them away so long as it is for a yearling sired by the nominated stallion for that breeding season.

Vouchers are not transferable to other stallions or other breeding seasons. Vouchers must be used by March 1 of the offspring’s two-year-old year.  The voucher along with nomination paperwork must be submitted by this deadline.
